Geeks and Nerds

What’s the difference between a geek and a nerd?
And which one is smarter?

I think a nerd is someone who is smart in all areas, kinda like a walking encyclopedia. Steve Urkel comes to mind, not to forget the ever popular song “White and Nerdy” by the legendary “Weird Al” Yankovic. On the other hand, to me a geek is someone who specializes in knowing everything about 1 or 2 areas of interest. For example, I think I am a music geek. I always try to know the latest songs, who sings them, what album they are on, length of songs (okay, not the last one…). There are car geeks, computer geeks, video game geeks, the list is endless.

I don’t know who would win when it comes to brain power, simply because as a geek of sorts I would offend myself if I said someone was smarter than I am. Does that make me a dork?
